Sherilyn (Sheri) has 27 years of experience in the field of early childhood, and joined the Teachstone team in the summer of 2013. During her Early Head Start/Head Start years, while serving as an Education Supervisor, Sheri became a CLASS observer and then an affiliate CLASS trainer. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Child Development and Family Studies from Western Michigan University, and a master’s degree in Early Childhood Education (Birth – 3rd Grade) from the University of the Southwest.
Sheri’s professional experience includes directing childcare and preschool programs, curriculum implementation and program development, classroom teaching, providing home-based parent education and support for at-risk children birth - five, presenting at early childhood conferences and trainings, coaching teachers and support staff, and training adults in the field. During her Early Head Start/Head Start years, as CLASS became an integral part of programming, Sheri was inspired to observe and support classrooms in measuring and improving teacher-child interactions that really make a difference in the learning lives of children.
Sheri is originally from Michigan, and currently resides in northern Indiana—though she remains a Michigander through and through! When she’s not working, she enjoys reading and writing poetry, visiting historical sites, landmarks, and national parks around the country, watching really good movies, spending time with her blended family of 6 children and 1 grandchild, and thanks to her husband—she can add camping to her list of hobbies!
