Who Should Participate

Pre-K teachers who wish to strengthen instructional support interactions in the classroom

Training Summary

This training is perfect for teachers who will be observed using the CLASS tool, who are participating in CLASS professional development and/or who want to learn more about CLASS.

Teachers who attend this training will:

  • Build a lens to identify effective Instructional Support interactions
  • Use CLASS language to describe effective Instructional Support interactions and explain why they are important to children’s development
  • Watch real classroom videos illustrating effective interactions
  • Apply this lens to their own teaching practices

Participants receive:

  • Participant Guide
  • Subscription to the CLASS Learning Community

Time Commitment

  • One-day Instructional Support Essentials for Teachers Training on March 7, March 13, March 28 or April 19
  • Online coaching with a CLASS coach via myTeachstone for approximately 20 minutes every other week for ten months

Support Provided from Leadership

  • Release time to complete the one-day training
  • Time and computer access for coaching sessions
  • If applicable, release time for 45 minute onsite coaching conferences three times across coaching program

CEUs And Gateway Hours Earned

Training earns 0.7 CEUs and 6.5 Gateway hours

Optional Onsite Coaching 

Some teachers may also receive a series of three onsite, in-classroom coaching sessions with a CLASS Coach.  Coaching consultation sessions are two hours every few weeks and include an informal CLASS observation on Instructional Support interactions, as well as, a 45 minute feedback/planning session.
