Charlottesville, Va., July 8, 2025 — Teachstone, a leading education technology company dedicated to classroom quality measurement and improvement, today announced two additions to its executive leadership team. Cheryl Cramer Toto joins as Chief Operating Officer, and Nadja Shaw as Chief of Staff. These strategic hires mark a pivotal step forward as new CEO Karlo Young builds a leadership team ready to expand Teachstone’s mission and impact in classrooms across the globe.
“These appointments reflect our bold vision for Teachstone’s future,” said Karlo Young, CEO of Teachstone. “Cheryl and Nadja bring deep operational expertise, mission alignment, and a passion for educational equity. Their leadership will be instrumental as we accelerate innovation, scale our impact, and unlock new opportunities for educators and students around the world.”
Cheryl Cramer Toto, Chief Operating Officer
Cramer Toto brings over two decades of transformational leadership across education, edtech, media, and publishing. Most recently, she served as COO of World Education Services (WES), a $100M global education organization where she led 300 employees and oversaw all business operations serving 500,000 learners from over 190 countries annually. She has also held senior roles at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH), where she led digital transformation and scaled multiple business units to tens of millions in revenue, and repositioned the Marketing Science Institute (MSI) as CEO.
At Teachstone, Cramer Toto will lead day-to-day operations and provide executive leadership for Product and Engineering. Her focus will be driving cross-functional alignment, revenue growth, and enterprise efficiency while delivering world-class digital solutions rooted in high-quality teacher-child interactions.
“Cheryl brings an exceptional blend of operational rigor and mission alignment,” said Young. “She has a proven track record of leading complex transformations and scaling purpose-driven organizations. Her calm, clear-headed approach to challenges—and unwavering commitment to improving educator and student experiences—is exactly the kind of leadership we need to grow our impact and deliver excellence in our next chapter.”
Nadja Shaw, Chief of Staff
Shaw brings more than a decade of experience leading strategic operations, program management, and organizational transformation in the education and edtech sectors, including executive roles at 2U and Concentric Holdings. She is uniquely positioned to support Teachstone’s continued growth, operational excellence, and scaling efforts.
As VP at 2U, she led the design and execution of global programs for more than 100 global teams, impacting over 40 million learners. Nadja played a key role in launching innovative partnerships like the Netflix technical bootcamp, and delivered millions in cost savings while maintaining high customer satisfaction. In addition to her corporate experience, Shaw founded Collective Ideation Consulting, where she advises mission-driven organizations on growth and transformation.
At Teachstone, Shaw will support enterprise-wide strategic initiatives and operational excellence across teams. She will help ensure tight alignment of priorities, culture, and execution as the company scales to meet increasing demand.
“Nadja’s track record of turning bold ideas into measurable outcomes is exactly what Teachstone needs in this moment of opportunity,” said Young. “I’ve had the privilege of working with Nadja across two previous organizations, and I’ve seen firsthand how her leadership, systems thinking, and people-centered approach consistently elevates teams and delivers results. We’re thrilled to welcome her to Teachstone.”
Both leaders bring a shared passion for improving student outcomes through evidence-based, scalable solutions. Their appointments underscore Teachstone’s renewed focus on growth, innovation, and educator support under Young’s leadership. “I’m proud of what our team at Teachstone has already accomplished and the momentum we’ve built. Cheryl and Nadja bring the kind of deep expertise and alignment that will help us continue moving forward with even greater clarity, scale, and impact.”
“I’m honored to join Teachstone at such an exciting and important time,” said Cramer Toto. “The opportunity to help scale solutions that support educator excellence and student learning aligns perfectly with my passion and purpose.”
