Materials Needed
Facilitators need to ensure that each participant has an individual CLASS Video Library subscription and CLASS Dimensions Guide to explore dimensions and learn practical strategies for improving classroom interactions. Visit the Teachstone store to subscribe to the Video Library if you do not already have access.
Once your product key is activated, pick a CLASS dimension and watch several videos within that dimension.
Video Library access is now included year-round for all CLASS observers who maintain their certifications. It is unnecessary to purchase a Video Library subscription if you are a certified observer.
During a Video
As you watch the videos, take careful observational notes about how the teacher interacts in ways that demonstrate the dimension and read the accompanying focus text.
In the Classroom
In your classroom, begin observing interactions related to that dimension. If you have a dimensions guide, use it as a resource as you become more intentional in your interactions.
Revisit the Video Library often to explore other dimensions and inform your classroom interactions.
As a friendly reminder, the CLASS Video Library is for individual use only. Learn more about the use of our tools.
Do participants and/or facilitators need to have prior training on the CLASS tool to use the CLASS Video Library Companion or CLASS Discussion Toolkit?
No. Facilitators and participants do not need prior training on the CLASS tool to use the companion or toolkit. But in order to elicit meaningful discussions, participants and facilitators should have some background knowledge of the CLASS domains and dimensions. Teachstone’s 2-hour online Introduction to the CLASS Tool provides a quick and easy way to gain foundational knowledge of the structure of the CLASS tool, the research behind it, and why effective interactions are so important for student learning and development.
