Yes, Teachstone will offer CEUs for affiliate-led CLASS Observation Trainings.
Teachstone doesn’t provide CEUs to teachers for their work in myTeachstone yet, but we’re working on it. We know it’s a lot of work to track and manage credit hours; in an effort to make that easier, we provide time tracking for all video and course work each teacher completes.
The International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) is a non-profit association dedicated to quality continuing education and training programs. IACET is the only standard-setting organization approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) for continuing education and training. The IACET standard is what learners seek for quality and is the core of thousands of educational programs worldwide. IACET’s mission is to advance the global workforce by providing a standard framework for quality learning and development through accreditation. IACET’s history includes the development of the original Continuing Education Unit (CEU) and creation and maintenance of the ANSI/IACET Standard for Continuing Education and Training. As a result of its Accredited Provider status, Teachstone is authorized to offer IACET CEUs for programs that qualify under the IACET standard. For more information about IACET, visit http://www.iacet.org.
The Continuing Education Unit (CEU) was created by IACET as a measurement of continuing education. One (1) IACET CEU is equal to ten (10) contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction, and qualified instruction.
We work with IACET because it is recognized internationally as a standard of good practice. Under IACET’s care, the CEU has evolved from a quantitative measure to a hallmark of quality training and instruction.
You can only receive CEUs for the Pre-K CLASS Observation Training and MMCI-Teacher starting on or after July 18, 2016. Any courses completed before July 18, 2016 are not eligible for CEUs, as they precede our accreditation. You can only receive CEUs for the Infant, Infant/Toddler, Toddler, K-3, Upper Elementary or Secondary CLASS Observation Training starting on or after March 16, 2017. Any courses completed before March 16, 2017 are not eligible for CEUs, as they precede our accreditation.
We also now offer the CDA with CLASS program. You can receive 12 CEUs for completing the 3-course CDA with CLASS Program. You can receive 4.5 CEUs for completing the 1-course CDA with CLASS Renewal program as well.
On July 18, 2016, Teachstone began offering CEUs for two of its training courses, the Pre-K CLASS Observation Training and CLASS Group Coaching (MMCI) for teachers. On March 15, Teachstone offered CEUs for CLASS observation trainings for all age levels. And now, in 2019, we offer CEUs for the CDA with CLASS and CDA with CLASS Renewal Programs.
There is no additional charge for CEUs from Teachstone. We have chosen to provide CEUs as a free benefit for our customers.
You can download your certificate from your myTeachstone account. Log in to your account and click “My Training” in the Training section. View a list of your trainings and click “Download Certificate.”
Teachstone is compliant with CLASS Observation Training (for all age levels) and CLASS Group Coaching (MMCI) for teachers. We also now offer the CDA with CLASS program, as well as the CDA with CLASS Renewal program. Those are online training courses for which CEUs are awarded.
Observation Trainings
Participants receive 1.2 CEUs for completing the Infant CLASS Observation Training, 2.15 CEUs for Infant/Toddler Combination CLASS Observation Training, and 1.4 CEUs for Toddler, Pre-K, K-3, Upper Elementary, or Secondary CLASS Trainings.
CLASS Group Coaching (MMCI) for Teachers
Participants receive 2 CEUs for full completion of all sessions of CLASS Group Coaching (MMCI) for teachers (0.2 CEU = 2 hours of MMCI training = 1 MMCI session). If a participant does not complete the CLASS Group Coaching (MMCI)-Teacher program in full, he or she can still receive CEUs for the hours completed.
One CEU is awarded for every 10 hours spent in training. For example, participants earn 1.4 CEUs after completing the Pre-K Observation Training because the training includes 14 hours of instruction. Breaks are not included when calculating CEUs. Since Infant Observation Training is a slightly shorter training (12 hours over the course of two days) participants earn 1.2 CEUs after completing this training.
No, to receive CEU credits, you only need to attend the training in its entirety.
Affiliate Trainers
No, CEUs are only for participants in the CLASS Observation Training.
CLASS Group Coaching (MMCI)
